Bryant J. Moy, Ph.D.

Principal Investigator

Bryant J. Moy is Assistant Professor of Politics at New York University and affiliated faculty at the NYU Center for Data Science. He studies urban and local politics, with a focus on racial inequality, local governance, and public opinion. His research uses large-scale datasets, survey and field experiments, and modern methods of causal inference to understand how local institutions produce—or undermine—equity and democratic responsiveness in multiracial communities. His work has been published in Political Behavior and the Journal of Experimental Political Science, and supported by the Russell Sage Foundation, the Gates Foundation, NYU’s Institute for Human Development and Social Change, and the Institute for Humane Studies.

Trellace Marie Lawrimore, Ph.D.

Lab Coordinator

Trellace Lawrimore is an Associate Instructor of Political Science at New York University Abu Dhabi. She studies race and historical political economy, and her primary case of interest is the historical U.S. South. She employs game theoretic models and novel historical data to understand how elites maintain power over racially diverse populations. Her work has been published in the Journal of Historical Political Economy, and it has been supported by Georgetown’s Political Economy Project and the Institute for Humane Studies.

Geneva Valerie Cole, Ph.D.

Research Collaborator

Geneva Cole is an assistant professor in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher in race and ethnic politics in the Department of Government at William and Mary. She received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2023.  Geneva's research interests broadly include public opinion, political behavior, and the role of political and social identities in shaping support for racial equality. Her research has been published in Social Science Quarterly, the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion, and Parties, and featured in the Washington Post, MinnPost, and the UCL Centre for US Politics Working Paper Series in American Politics.

Geneva collaborates with the lab on experiments related to racially restrictive housing covenants.
